The purpose of this project is to build background knowledge by exposing rising 3, 4, and 5 grade students to Science, technology, engineering, and Math (STEM) in a realistic and engaging environment with the intent to foster a curiosity and authentic learning desire for the future. Students will have the opportunity to learn about the history of aeronautics while investigating the Mars Program that is currently taking us to new frontiers. Students will also have the opportunity to individually observe exhibits and participate in interactive activities where they can utilize and apply their background knowledge and ideas into an immersive environment. Also, students will be able to discuss Science based research and create projects that innovate our schools’ 2021 vision of productivity. Using technology, students will create a portfolio of their research and experiments. Furthermore, students will collectively conduct research in the elements of outer space and solar system. Students will create mobile planets that detail and track their movement. Students will discover and be able to compare and contrast the planets’ properties as well as those in stars. With this intensive STEM NASA project, our students will have hands on experiences that are life changing and have reflective effects to real world situations.
