    Funded May 8, 2022

Thank you so much for your contribution to my project! It has been fully funded thanks to your generosity. I am so excited to give my students the opportunity to design and race solar cars in our environmental science class next spring as a part of our renewable energy unit.”

This classroom project was brought to life by SONIC Drive-In and 6 other donors.
  • Owl Pellet Food Webs!

    Funded Aug 23, 2021

Thank you for your donation! My class enjoyed dissecting owl pellets - a first for many of them. The looks of amazement, confusion, and even disgust were a sight to see. Students were able to assemble the partial skeletons of the owls' prey and our class agreed that the most fascinating remains were the skulls.

Due to a supply shortage of owl pellet dissection kits, your donation also funded some basic supplies needed for other engaging classroom activities.

Again, thank you for your donation. It is my goal to provide my ELLs with fun experiences as often as possible so I can hopefully instill a love of science and learning.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Koch

This classroom project was brought to life by Emerson Collective and one other donor.
Students will have a tangible learning experience and a wonderful phenomenon based activity to begin our lesson sequence on energy in ecosystems. We will dissect owl pellets and use our data collection to learn about predator-prey relationships, energy flow in ecosystems, and construction of food webs and food chains. Students will “do science” in what may be their first ever laboratory activity. The resources from Carolina Biological will allow my Environmental Science students to complete this dissection in pairs. Several of the materials are re-usable and will make an impact for years to come!
