Math Skills With Math Centers
Funded Jul 2, 2022My students, my school and myself thank you from the bottom of my heart for your generosity. My students were in "aw" when they saw the math manipulatives. I was most interested in providing for them the Base Ten disks. These help tremendously in their understanding of place value. The disks come in 1,000's, 100's, 10's and 1's. It is a difficult concept, but the disks have helped them in mastering the concept.
These manipulatives will be used in my classroom throughout the year as we learn all of the math standards for second grade. These will also be used in my class for many years to come.
Thank you again for these and for the other things you sent. I also received colorful, circular seating pads for my library. They love those as well. It has made their reading experience a more pleasurable one in our classroom library.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Castro-Paniagua
This classroom project was brought to life by General Motors and 5 other donors. The Most Welcoming Classroom
Funded Nov 5, 2021My students and I thank you for all the classroom supplies we received. Our plant manager delivered the boxes to our room, the students were intrigued. I opened up the boxes as they were in recess and I put all items on the table. When they returned from recess they were in 'AWW'. I explained to the class that a generous person(s) donated all of the items. They were so excited and could not believe someone thought they were special enough to receive a gift.
I am especially grateful for the stool. I use it everyday since I placed it in the front of the class beside the projector. My students love their individual whiteboard erasers. We use the personal whiteboards for language arts and for math. Prior to receiving the personal whiteboard erasers, students were using paper towels. It's the little things that make them happy.
We are looking forward to the "tell time" math unit so we can use the clock that tests their knowledge. The clock has a sweet childlike voice perfect for my second grade class. As a first year teacher, the help received by the donors is invaluable.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Castro-Paniagua
