My number one goal is to have a variety of diverse books in my classroom library. A lot of my kids struggle to make connections because they have not met a character just like them (in a book)! I want kids to have a wide variety of student choice when they read, to have that moment of connection, and to be life long readers. Reading will and can expose many to a world they have never seen or been exposed to. Also, independent reading can bring joy and comfort in a time of such uncertainty.
