Multisensory Tools!
Funded Aug 26, 2023Your kindness in donating to my project "Multi-sensory tools! " has had a huge impact on the student's growth and confidence in learning how to write and form their letters. From Kindergarten up to 2nd grade, my students have consistently been using the colored sand and the sand trays during our structured ELA time. When prompted I tell them the letter sound and they write the letter in the sand three times. The sand provides a kinesthetic approach to learning the formation and sounds of individual letters before they write their letters on lined paper.
When my students first saw the sand trays, they were ecstatic! Excitement exuded from my students when they realized that using the sand trays would be part of our daily/weekly routine for learning new phonemes.
Currently, the students are more comfortable using the sand and the sand trays. As the students move on to learning new phonemes such as 2-letter blends ( ex. cl, bl, cr, st)the students will be able to utilize their sand trays to practice not only the sound but the formation of the letters, before they write those phonemes/words on their lined paper. They are doing a fantastic job reading and writing!”

Amazing Artists at Work!
Funded Sep 9, 2021We would like to thank you for your donations. The students were very curious about what was in the boxes... when they saw all of the materials they danced around with excitement with their faces lit up!
The students have been able to create art and have used different media for writing responses from literature such as markers, dry erase markers, and erasers, as well as crayons. Around Thanksgiving we read a story about being thankful, my students then created their thank you note for you. They also used the materials for a variety of classroom projects both in Reading and Math class.
The students were so excited to use markers, Bingo daubers, crayons, glue sticks, and all of the paper and laminating sheets to protect their work! Plus the fact that their work is organized in the mailbox cubbies. The mailbox center has had such a positive impact on my students being able to independently put their work away and know that it is safe and ready to go home!
Most recently they have been able to use paper, glue sticks, and paint to make Penguins and Polar Bears for our Arctic and Antarctica unit. I am excited to see what my Artists can do in the future!”
With gratitude,
