  • Reading and Sensory Space

    Funded Aug 14, 2024

Thank you so much. A flexible space for all students in my class will make such a big impact on their learning! Being able to pick where to sit and what they read with independence will help build and generalize many skills in the classroom. All my students will be very excited to see the new space.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Timmons

  • Help a First Year Teacher of Students with Severe Disabilities

    Funded Aug 22, 2021

My students consistently use all the materials provided. The paints and paint brushes have been a great, fun, and sensory way for students to express their understanding on topics. We made "P" pumpkins for the fall season where we learned about adjectives/ describing words. When I took out the magnetic blocks for my social skills class their faces lit up and they all built different creative things with them. The alphabet rug squares have been so fun to play with. We use them for phonics as well as problem solving games. My students always know when a material they are using comes from donors choose. And to quote one of my paraprofessionals "oh I love those donors".”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Timmons

  • Social Skills Restaurant

    Funded Sep 23, 2021

Thank you so much for making this project possible! I am so excited to start using these materials to help structure and improve my lessons day to to day. My students are going to love putting on a restaurant it will not only be fun but help translate skills we learn in class into the world.”

    With gratitude,

These items will help my students learning in the classroom as well as help create a calming space for them to learn. My students are all students with severe disabilities and most are English Language Learners. I teach three sections of ELA for readers ranging from non-readers to 1st grade equivalent fluency. They have been working on the beginning steps of reading their whole lives and it is crucial for them to have new and interactive ways to learn. I also teach a section of Civics/ U.S. History. We focus on working on how to be a citizen. This includes reading signs which also ties into our ELA lessons! Lastly, I teach interpersonal skills. In this class it is important to practice, practice, and practice again. Many of these materials will help with roleplaying as well as emotion reading.
