  • Family and Consumer Science Classroom Supplies

    Funded Sep 10, 2023

Thank you for donating towards classroom supplies for Family and Consumer Science. We have been doing all sorts of projects and activities throughout the semester and it helps to have the right supplies. So far we have done a personal finance project, hand sewing, machine sewing and a whole lot of cooking! We are still going to squeeze in a short babysitting unit before the semester ends as well.

Before getting these supplies we were a bit limited and students had to take turns with certain items, such as borrowing the calculator or taking turns with the Chromebook chargers. Now there are plenty of supplies for everyone to work without a wait. Thank you so much again for your generous donation!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Cooke

  • Sewing Pillowcases and So Much More!

    Funded Nov 30, 2021

Thank you once again for supporting my "Sewing Pillowcases and so Much More" project.

Thanks to your generous donation, we had all the supplies we needed for students to create custom pillowcases. The new fabrics were a great addition to our choices. The iron was a well-needed upgrade from our very old one we had before. Each student in my classes had a chance to be creative and make something to keep.

I am planning to do this project again with my new classes and the iron will be handy year after year!”

    With gratitude,

  • Green Products to Reduce Waste

    Funded Sep 24, 2021

Thank you for funding Green Products to Reduce Waste. We have already begun using the mop and towels for clean up after our last cooking lab and plan to cycle in the new sponges for the next time we need to clean. The students were fascinated by the removable head on the mop, as they had not seen this type of mop before. We are all grateful to have what we need and to not have to throw so many disposable things away. We have many cooking labs in the future and are happy to have these products which we will be able to use again and again.”

  • Creative Tools for Middle School Choir

    Funded Sep 15, 2021

Thank you again for funding Creative Tools for Middle School Choir! My students were so excited to see all the new items.

We've been working on rhythm patterns and were able to put the shaker eggs to use right away. Instead of clapping the patterns like usual, they were able to use the eggs to make it different and fun.

The student were most fascinated with the Hoberman sphere. Everyone wanted to know what it was, and then were immediately in awe when they saw it grow and shrink in size. We are using it to show dynamics in one of our songs this week, but I can also see other future applications. Phrasing, breaths, student "conducting": there are so many ways we will be using this throughout the year.

Thank you again for giving us some fun new tools! My students and I appreciate it.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Cooke

Students in my choir will be using the sphere, shaker eggs, and whiteboards to become better musicians while also having fun. The kinesthetic learners will benefit from being able to hold and manipulate items while learning and the visual learners will greatly benefit from being able to see things demonstrated with the Hoberman Sphere. The Hoberman Sphere can teach musicianship skills in so many ways! I can use it to model different ways of breathing together in a way that all in the room can see easily from wherever they are seated. I could also use it to show dynamics in music by having it grow larger to match a crescendo. The shaker eggs will give students a fun new way to practice rhythm. We will use them to practice patterns in our songs and potentially even use them as added percussion in a performance. The whiteboards will be great for learning note names and writing out what rhythms they hear. We will have so many uses for the Hoberman Sphere, shaker eggs, and whiteboards in our choir classes!
