I have 67 second graders. We have three rotations during the day. I teach science, ESL and social studies. My scholars do not have opportunities to be exposed to meaningful experiences at home. That is why it is important that we implement science inquiry activates where scholars learn process skills and at the same time they are having fun. When we do our lessons in the habitat my scholars are engaged, they behave better and are aware that a consequence of not following our school wide rules will be losing the privilege of working outdoors. My school is a low income, inner city school. Many of our scholars come from dysfunctional homes and some have health problems. We have approximate 800 scholars English speaking and also ELL's.
