These resources and materials will help students learn to manage, develop and apply coping strategies. Many students within my school are not taught the basics of healthy relationship building, self-management skills, and/or emotional coping strategies. Studies show that students who participate in social-emotional learning demonstrate improved attitudes, academic abilities, and social skills. This has also been a school-wide initiative to focus on our at-risk population, which since last year has been a large majority of our students. This means that social-emotional learning will not only be a need in terms of classroom management and student well-being, but it will also be a graded content area.
