I am requesting paintbrushes, paint, canvases, and art tools so they can express their creativity. Working at a Title I school, many students are at a disadvantage in not having everything they need. I am their new art teacher since not having one for over two-three years. My students are ready to learn, explore, and create. I want to give them the very best I can offer with no limitations. Our limit goes beyond the sky! The materials I’ve chosen will help students apply knowledge to paper in creating projects from our lesson. One lesson we will do in class is studying the works of Vincent Van Gogh. Students will learn how Van Gogh used color and rhythm in his artwork to create movement. They will have an opportunity to apply his concepts to their artwork. With color and rhythm, students will use tempera and watercolor paint and brushes to create their own version of Van Gogh's work. The paint trays will ensure that every student will have their own set of paint to do art safely and with social distancing. The canvases will what my students will use to for a group project in creating rhythm in their art. Lastly, my students will use an easel to demonstrate art techniques in front of one another throughout our lesson. This is only the beginning of this journey for my students and I and we are ready for the ride!
