My students learn much better when activities are hands-on. They love to use whiteboard markers and get excited to show their work. I teach a 5th and 6th grade special day class, and students love any subject being made into a game. The hands-on cash register would get students excited to learn about money. I will also use fake money as a point system so students can see how much they have accumulated and spent. I have many students personally requesting this item for our class. Books and hands-on activities are crucial in our classroom as they teach students to become independent learners. Students love to partner read; they are more engaged when they can read with a friend. This positively increases their reading fluency scores, and they will try to beat their own times. They enjoy chapter books and love it when a chapter leaves them in suspense! It is important for my students to learn organizational skills which is why an organizer for classwork and homework will be used. The pencil boxes will help students focus on keeping themselves accountable for knowing where they place their materials. I have an amazing paraprofessional who helps me teach the class! It would be great to have magnetic folders to help organize small group work. This will help the adults and the students to see what work we have or need to get through. At times, our activities or schedules change. With a printer in our room, we would spend worrying about quick access to a printer and more time focusing on the activity. Thank you!
