  • Play SKills Reunite!

    Funded Dec 5, 2023

My students were so excited when we received new materials for our centers and quiet time boxes. Students are using the new toys in our different centers, such as our block center and STEM center. Students pretend the blocks are glasses as they look through the different colored block. The students who do not sleep at rest time also love our busy books that they can pretend to read with action figures. I have slowly introduced new materials from your donation into different centers and the students are so excited to explore new and exciting ways to pay with the toys. I plan to continue to guide students to use their imagination in their play as they learn to play with each new item donated.”

  • Let's Get Crafty

    Funded Nov 30, 2022

My students loved using our new art supplies for our Christmas and winter projects. We used the buttons and fun eyeball stickers to individualize their own gingerbread men and women as we read several different gingerbread stories. For their parent present, we made "The Polar Express" trains with the paint, popsickle sticks, and foam. Then we put a whole bag of cotton balls in our sensory bin to pretend it was snow!

The students were so excited as they worked on each of their projects. When I told them that we had some very generous people donate fun things for us to make crafts they smiled with joy. They especially loved the "snowballs" in our sensory bin!

Next, we plan to use the materials to create more projects throughout each theme. We plan to make a polar bear next week with some of our cottonballs next week and then create houses with the popsickle sticks the following week. The storage containers have been extremely helpful to sort these art materials to grab the supplies quickly for the next project. Thank you so much for enabling the students to use their creativity with so many different projects.”

  • Putting Together the Pieces

    Funded Oct 14, 2022

The students are working on their fine motor skills during our morning centers as they play with the new puzzles. I worked with individual students as well as small groups of students as they helped me match the uppercase pop-it letters to the lower case pop-it letters. The students have also been using the kitchen materials to make food for each other and pretend they are a family in our kitchen area.

The student's were so excited to see the new puzzles and read all our new books. I told them how there were many people who helped us get the new puzzles, books, and extra toys. The students immediately said thank you! I told them that I would share how excited and thankful they were with our friends who helped us out.

Our next steps are to work on social skills as we play with these new materials and even begin working on art projects related to our new books!”

  • Keeping Little Hands Busy

    Funded Sep 7, 2022

My students are using several of the new resources during our morning center time at our tables. These materials have guided them in using both fine motor skills and creative thinking skills. In small groups we have also been talking about emotions and practicing the faces we would make when we feel that way. This has helped students recognize a variety of emotions they were not able to describe before. Some of the new resources we have been using in our sensory table. The students have loved exploring new ways of playing and thinking with the resources you helped donate to our clessroom. When the students first saw the new resources they were excited to begin exploring with them and sharing them with their friends. Thank you for donating to play that extends their learning within all the themes throughout the year!”

  • One Step at a Time in PreK

    Funded Sep 24, 2021

My students are enjoying all the new materials we have in our classroom. The students have been exploring and playing the materials in many different ways. Everyday, the children use the blocks to build different buildings and houses for their trucks and people. The students have also been using their senses to explore the sensory bin and the materials placed in it, including the alphabet bulbs. They really enjoy the puzzles as well, they are working on their problem solving skills and fine motor skills each day. Each of these materials has provided for new experiences.

My students thoroughly enjoy getting new toys and materials for the classroom. As soon as they saw the puzzles they all couldn't wait for their turn with one. We have had the puzzles along with the other materials for over a month and the students still love playing with them each day. Each of them are so thankful for new, fun toys to play with and learn from.

In our classroom we learn about a new theme every 4 weeks, so I like to rotate the toys so that they always feel new and exciting. Therefore, some of the toys have been out for awhile while others come and go. We also have a new curriculum this year so I am always looking for new things for the students to explore and learn with. I am so thankful for the materials and know that as the students and I learn about each theme, we will need new things to learn with.”
