In past years, I taught upper elementary students who read m more independently. Picture books and visual matter so much to younger children. I so missed reading stories to my students! I want to build a library where my student can see themselves, their cultures and their families represented and celebrated. As I think about my book collection that is more suited for this age level, many of them seem outdated. These titles will help me build a library where my students can see themselves, share their stories and learn from each other.
