Books with characters with disabilities will be used in small groups or in general education classrooms to support inclusion and understanding among peers. It is important that classmates are part of supporting students with disabilities in the classroom. It shouldn't always be up to the student with disabilities to learn to communicate like everyone else! All of these books will be used in literacy activities to support language development. We often find the characters, setting, place, emotions, and important events, we sequence the parts of the story to practice retelling it verbally or with pictures or drawings, and learn to answer comprehension questions.
