Math Manipulatives Make a Difference
Funded Nov 30, 2022I am extremely grateful for all of your generous contributions. Adding the long division template white boards to my classroom allowed my students to follow the long division step by steps using the color coded boxes. This provided my students with a visual to build on their understanding.
My students were able to conceptualize fractions using the fraction tiles. They engaged in numerous activities that helped them understand equivalent fractions. Having manipulatives has supported my students understanding of fractions. It was also very fun for them to use these tools to develop communication skills as they worked in partners. The collaborated and built on their social skills as they had to work as a team to contribute to the discussion.”

Funded Aug 10, 2022My students fell in love with this book. It was amazing to see the amount of enthusiasm they showed when they were reading it. All of them couldn't wait to start reading the next chapter.
Throughout the book we learned several new reading strategies and skills. This book was filled with new vocabulary terms that the students were able to understand after given some examples. They were able to use these terms in their own writing and added them to their vocabulary.
The rewards were an added bonus to their learning since it encouraged them to read outside of the classroom. For every book milestone they read, they were able to choose a Reading is Fun! reward.
Thank you so much for your generous donations. My students and I are very grateful.”

Funded Jan 16, 2022First of all, I am extremely grateful for your very generous donations. My students fell in love with our first Kate DiCamillo book that they were hooked to read more. A lot of them had read Because of Winn Dixie in third grade, but had not really become interested in reading more by the author. When I introduced The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane and learned that it was from the same author, they were intrigued to read more. I told them about the project and they crossed their fingers since then. When the project was funded, they were ecstatic to get the books in their hands.
This book has really helped us dive into many important standards and skills that are taught in fourth grade. As we started the book, they analyzed characters and used many adjectives to describe them. They compared and contrasted characters and even went beyond to making connections with characters from other Kate DiCamillo books. Similarly, as they read they answered questions that used the depth and complexity icons to enhance their understanding. I usually read this book as a read aloud as students follow and annotate in their own book. They are so interested in the book they volunteer to read out loud.
It is wonderful to hear the cheers of my students when I say we are going to read The Tale of Despereaux. Even the students that are usually not engaged are entirely focused. When I ask for summaries I have more than one volunteer to do so. I can say this book brings so much joy to my students. I love to see all the magic a book can bring my classroom.”

Funded Nov 10, 2021My students were full of joy when I shared the news that our project got funded. They cheered and high-fived each other. They looked at the materials and started using them immediately. There was so much excitement that I allowed them to explore them and get creative.
I am forever grateful for all of the generous donations I received for my students. My students are able to engage in meaningful lessons because of our supplies. They are enthusiastic about taking out their interactive journals to take notes and organize their classroom work. The colored pencils have helped them get creative with their cereal box project using them to draw and color about their favorite book.
The pencil bags were a hit! They help them stay organized and makes them more enthusiastic to do work. They love it when I ask them to take out their dry erase marker to write on our white boards. Overall, these supplies have made our school year an amazing one.”
