  • Creating a Diverse Classroom Library With High Interest Books

    Funded Feb 7, 2025

Thank you very much for your generous donation! My students love daily silent sustained reading (SSR) every day after lunch. They often don’t have the books in-hand that they wish they did. Having a diverse classroom library of high interest for all levels of readers makes an enormous, positive impact on their day. You are fostering a love of reading for many, many deserving children.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Sloan

  • Music, Movement & English Language Learning for Newcomers

    Funded Sep 24, 2024

Thank you for supporting my 5th grade newcomer students in having fitness equipment to tie together music, movement, and English language learning.

A diverse curriculum that includes movement and music has supported my newcomer 5th grade students by offering new ways for them to exercise, express themselves, and learn English hands-on. These jump ropes and hula hoops has helped meet the needs of my newcomer students. The benefits of having music and movement in the classroom are endless. It's been incredible to see them smile, laugh and gain confidence when discovering they can do something new like hula hoop!”

  • STEM is Not Just a Class, It's a Culture

    Funded Aug 14, 2024

Thank you very much for your generous donation towards hands-on science experiments and projects. They have made learning so meaningful and so much fun!

My 5th-grade students have used the STEM materials such as: building blocks (legos) to construct a mini city, Rollercoaster kits when learning about the career of a theme park engineer, paper cups when learning about sound, copper tape, and LED lights for experimentation when learning about electricity.

With these supplies, my students have been able to get to see there is more to science, technology, engineering and mathematics than what they will ever learn from a book or handout.”

  • Engaging & Exciting Hands-on STEAM Learning

    Funded Dec 2, 2024

Thank you very much for your generous donation. My students light-up when they see the new classroom materials and the support we have from the community. They love to keep the giving going, by mentoring younger students in reading and STEAM activities using the supplies. Having quality learning tools makes students feel valued and motivated to learn and come to school! You’re the best!”

  • Flexible Seating! Supporting Student Comfort and Engagement in the Classroom

    Funded May 10, 2024

Our students come to school to learn, build connections, and be happy. They are kind, safe, productive, and focused on their future. When students in my classroom are empowered with the tools to thrive, they succeed academically.

Providing our classroom with flexible seating has helped students improve attention, focus, and engagement. Sitting comfortably in a traditional classroom chair, on the floor in a bean bag, in a wobble chair, in a counter height stool, or even standing at a counter height table can feel comfortable and more natural for students. Having these as an option makes students feel supported and welcome in the classroom.”

  • Inspiring Students to Learn…Every Day Is Earth Day!

    Funded May 6, 2024

Our students come to school to learn, build connections, and be happy. They are kind, safe, productive, and focused on their future. When students in my classroom are empowered with the tools to thrive, they succeed academically.

Your donation has ensured my students have the tools needed to experience hands-on learning about Earth Day in our 5th grade classroom.

They have explored environmental education through literacy and gardening; and they have benefited from planting, growing and caring for live plants in the classroom. Reading kid-friendly books about the environment makes learning fun and inspires students to be plant and planet Earth protectors!”

Our students come to school to learn, build connections, and be happy. They are kind, safe, productive, and focused on their future. Your donation has ensured my students have the basic supplies and equipment for the school year. When students in my classroom have an enriching learning environment, they are happy, more motivated to thrive, and they succeed academically.

Providing my students with basics like journals for daily writing, jump ropes for PE, special pens for math, bean bags for flexible seating, and replacement terrarium equipment to take care of our class pet, Rocky, the bearded dragon, gives them what they need daily to thrive and be successful in school.

These basic tools have benefited students in many ways. They are needed daily for students to focus and progress in literacy, math, and science; and they are especially important for our many English Language Learners.”

Whether in the classroom or if we return to distance learning at home, having access to tangible books to read as a whole class for novel studies and access to technology to integrate artistic expression, will make a positive difference in students' learning. Our class does not have class sets of these 3 novels we will be studying this school year. They are Hatchet, Percy Jackson, and The Breadwinner. Having a class iPad and Apple TV for instruction will allow us to use photos and videos for class projects and share our works of arts to truly shine this school year! With these books and technology, students will be empowered to express their learning from the novel studies and other lessons through music, dance, and the arts. Our green screen is already set up in the classroom, and we’re waiting for an iPad to start capturing our learning in action. Everyday after lunch my students will be reading these books for our novel study. When you walk into my classroom, you will see each student reading with a book in their hand as well as listening to me read; and this supports using multiple modalities of learning. Alan Bennet stated, “A book is a device to ignite the imagination."
