Each of the 25 students have Individualized Educational Programs that are designed to target functional real-life community-based skills, so that they can become as independent as possible. Examples of the objectives are: The student will choose a breakfast item, shop for it, and follow the steps to prepare that food for breakfast- egg. Students utilize a variety of Assistive Technology or Augmented Communication tools to communicate their wants and needs. The materials will allow their teachers and me the opportunity to model communication. Example: Speech Pathologist Question: When are we going to Kroger? Student Answer: Tuesday at 10:30 Students are encouraged to explain where and what they did to their parents daily. Parents build on and practice these community experiences when they are out shopping in the community.
