Fuel & Tools: Grab What You Need Corner in Need
Funded Sep 1, 2023Your generosity and kindness made all the difference for my students during the 2023-2024 school year. Thanks to you and your contributions students both in my class and outside of my class have been able to have access to quality items they need to help their day run smoothly so that they can feel safe and have their needs met in class.
This year, my students were able to enjoy snacks as they walked in, (which was such a big support as students go through 90 minute class periods at our school) and hygiene products that helped them feel secure and confident especially for my students who spend their days at school from sun up to sun down. Students often expressed gratitude when seeing a toothbrush they could grab or deodorant during their long days of extracurriculars or students who had to leave to work after school.
You have made such a huge impact on mine and my students' life this year and for that I send the biggest thank you!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Costilla

Funded Jul 22, 2023I send my continued utmost appreciation and gratitude to you for all of your support in ensuring my students have the supplies they need to carry out this school year. We are in our second quarter of the year and their Classroom Essential Supplies have ensured that they have what they need to interact with the lesson and share their learning in meaningful ways.
The every-day essential supplies that your donations have graciously provided are available to students 24/7 throughout our class. If students come to class needing a pencil, highlighter, eraser, marker, color pencils, they know where to grab it. Supplies are readily available to them at their group tables.
Students have enjoyed using markers, and color pencils to demonstrate their learning through artistic modalities. Each quarter they design a Unit Cover for their folders and use highlighters and pens to annotate the texts we read. Sticky-notes have been a life saver as they make for quick and easy warm up/ exit tickets. Students also use post-it notes when marking important parts of texts that they want to go back to and when doing gallery walks where I ask them to note a quick comment for reflection.
Your generosity has allowed me to implement creative assignments as students have the supplies they need to create visual demonstrations of their learning. Just this week, when learning about the Hero's Journey- students created post cards for each part of the Hero's Journey as a visual resource to prepare them for analyzing texts.
Your support has reached and supported 90+ students. My students and I thank you for your generosity and hope that you know the huge impact it has truly made.”

Funded Jul 22, 2023I send my continued utmost appreciation and gratitude to you for all of your support in ensuring my students have the supplies they need to carry out this school year. We are in our second quarter of the year and their everyday learning folders have had such a positive impact on their engagement and organization this year!
Students use their folders everyday- they are one of the first materials they grab when they walk in and they are the last thing they store in our classroom before they leave. Students use their folders to organize the following materials:
-Weekly Warm Ups
-Notes/ Vocabulary Charts
-Writing Resources/ Graphic Organizers
-Texts/ Readings
-Weekly Work Submission
-Feedback Section
At the end of each week, I check students Weekly Work Submission section of their folders and leave them feedback to which they can find when they pick their folders up on Mondays. This system has made grading and giving feedback a lot easier as everything is all in one place.
During the first week of school, students prepared their folders by labeling each part and developing an understanding of how they would be used. They grew familiar with each section of the folder and created a unit cover that is related to the literature they would be learning about. Quarter 1 course title is "Great Books" where they study genre and analyze multiple texts from magical realism, dystopian, and coming of age genres. Quarter 2 is titled "Into the Nightmare," where students study and analyze literary devices in horror fiction. When students first unwrapped their folders and began making them their own- they were so excited! One student exclaimed: "Ms. I've never been given a folder from a class before. These are so nice!" I let them know that our folders were thanks to amazing donors like you!
Students will continue using their folders for the rest of the year as a space to store assignments and receive feedback. Next quarter is our creative writing unit, so these folders will be a lifer saver as students build and store writing pieces for their portfolios.
Your support has reached and supported 90+ students. My students and I thank you for your generosity and hope that you know the huge impact it has truly made.”
