  • Put Down Your Phone and Play With Your Friends

    Funded Dec 31, 2022

Words cannot begin to describe how thankful my students and I are for your overwhelming generosity. During these turbulent times, it is comforting to have such acts of kindness as well as a reason to be thankful.

The board games that were purchased with your help has been of great use in classes. It is often difficult to have students want to interact with each other. However, these games have allowed the students to be involved, interact, bond, and simply, have fun - no matter how much or how little they like math. When it comes to playing, everyone is excited and happy! After several fun Fridays, the students grew much closer and more comfortable with each other. That greatly helped foster better conversations during group work and discussions between peers.

I can say with great confidence that you have made our learning more engaging and fun! And for that, I am so very thankful.

Thanks again for your generosity and support.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Chan

Words cannot begin to describe how thankful my students and I are for your overwhelming generosity. During these turbulent times, it is comforting to have such acts of kindness as well as a reason to be thankful.

When I first saw that people had given to my project, I felt supported in this very challenging year of having to pull students out of the "remote-learning" laziness and to keep them engaged. Teaching has always been my greatest passion, but unfortunately our efforts as teachers are not always fully recognized. This, along with the new challenges from the aftermath of remote teacher, left me feeling uncertain for the first time in my career. In all honesty, the funding of this project allowed me to feel like someone was really rooting for me and my students.

The technology that was purchased with your help has been of great use in my Algebra 2 and Trigonometry classes. It is often difficult to bring such advance courses to life, however, these devices have allowed me to prepare interactive and engaging lessons.

I can say with great confidence that you have made our learning more engaging and fun! And for that, I am so very thankful.

Thanks again for your generosity and support.”

  • Student (Embarrassed): Miss, I Don't Have A...

    Funded Aug 30, 2022

Thank you for your generous donations! The "supplies station" is filled with all the things that the students would need on any given day - no matter what the topic would be for that day.

Students can freely walk to the station to get what they need without having to ask the teacher or be judged by their peers.

Your donations for these supplies have tremendously enhanced these students' learning process, helped keep them organized, and even made their notes less boring!

No words can express how grateful we are for these supplies! Please accept this heartfelt "thank you" - from me and all my students.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Chan

  • May I Please Borrow...?

    Funded Aug 13, 2021

Thank you all so much for the generous contributions to get the school supplies.

When I was setting up the school supplies station and saw how many things I can provide for the students (with your help) - my heart was filled with joy.

Being in a title one school, students often come to school hungry, not dressed warm enough, and not have the basic school supplies.

With the school supplies station, the students do not need to ask - they can freely take what they need to use for the lesson (without feeling embarrassed).

Color pencils, red pens, colored paper, white board markers are considered luxury for most of my students. We are so grateful for your help to connect them with these supplies that can help enhance my lessons and strengthen their understanding.

My students and I would like to thank you all, once again, for your help and support.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Chan

The students have been learning virtually behind the computer screen and relying on the chatbox and emails to communicate with teachers and others. It would be an extremely tough and scary transition for a lot of these young people in September. I would like to use this iPad to create some activities that we can do to help "break the ice" and slowly build interpersonal relationships with one another. And at the same time, still provide the virtual option for students to participate if they are not ready to do so in front of the class. Activities that they are familiar with, such as letting them take selfies in captioning their feelings (social-emotional activity), Jeopardy, Kahoots (allowing students to complete activities on the iPad).
