• The Connection Between Nutrition and Mental Wellness

  Thank you again for your generous donations in creating this classroom pantry in our calming corner.

  It's only been 2 months, and the students are enjoying the snacks very much. They can freely grab a snack from our pantry whenever they are hungry - which helps them stay focused during class.

  Please accept the deepest gratitude from me and my students. This really made such a big difference for many of them (especially those that are occupied during their lunch period and do not have time to eat during the day).

  The funds were used to purchase some basic supplies to help the students learn and provide them ways to perfect their work and organization skills.

  The students are loving the mechanical pencils. They no longer need to leave their seats to sharpen their pencils, which means no need to pause their learning! The folders are extremely helpful with keeping all the worksheets and returned assessments.

  The students are freely to go to our supply corner at the front of the room whenever they need an eraser, highlighter, etc.

  The "emergency shelf" with all the delicious snacks made such a big difference in our calming corner. It's only been a couple of weeks, and the students are making themselves at home and enjoying a snack when they needed a little lift.

  Knowing that they can have a designated corner to decompress and have a little snack - is so important and beneficial to their mental health.

  The live plants around the classroom added special touch of warmth and life. We are looking forward to watch them grow as the year unfolds.

  And the jumbo Jenga set has been so much fun!

  I am extremely grateful for those that have supported me in making my classroom as comfortable as possible for students to have a safe space to calm down, take a breather, relax during a panic attack, etc.

  The comfy bench, decorations, fuzzy pillows are all so loved by the students!

  It's only been 3 days since this calming corner was set up, and multiple students went to the back just to step away/hide from difficult moments, sat on the rugs for a break, hugged the stuffed animal for comfort, etc.

• Supporting Students in Reaching their Maximum Potential

  Words cannot begin to describe how thankful my students and I are for your overwhelming generosity. During these turbulent times, it is comforting to have such acts of kindness as well as a reason to be thankful.

  When I first saw that people had given to my project, I felt supported in this very challenging year of having to pull students out of the "remote-learning" laziness and to keep them engaged. Teaching has always been my greatest passion, but unfortunately our efforts as teachers are not always fully recognized. This, along with the new challenges from the aftermath of remote teacher, left me feeling uncertain for the first time in my career. In all honesty, the funding of this project allowed me to feel like someone was really rooting for me and my students.

• Student (Embarrassed): "Miss, I Don't Have a..."

  Thank you all so much for the generous contributions to get the school supplies.

  When I was setting up the school supplies station and saw how many things I can provide for the students (with your help) - my heart was filled with joy.

  Being in a title one school, students often come to school hungry, not dressed warm enough, and not have the basic school supplies.

  With the school supplies station, the students do not need to ask - they can freely take what they need to use for the lesson (without feeling embarrassed).

  Color pencils, red pens, colored paper, white board markers are considered luxury for most of my students. We are so grateful for your help to connect them with these supplies that can help enhance my lessons and strengthen their understanding.
