Most of my 11th graders are Latinx and/or Black students. The standard curriculum does not tend to include a lot of literature written by authors who look like my students, but I plan to change this. One of the texts I will be including is A Raisin in the Sun by Lorraine Hansberry, the celebrated queer Black playwright who was the first African-American female author to have her play performed on Broadway. Help me bring this story to my students! I am requesting help funding a class set of books; this means 27 copies of A Raisin in the Sun. We will be reading the play together in class, so it is essential that each student have a copy in their hands.
