When children are overcome by strong feelings, it can be hard for them to stay focused during a lesson. Having a designated area for a child to find their calm and understand their feelings, will allow them to regroup and return to learning. My pre-k class will understand the process of what the safe place means and when to utilize it. When a child's basic needs are not met, they are unable to learn effectively. This area will allow my pre-k to work through social emotional concerns in a calm environment.
