  • A Merry Christmas for Amazing Kids!

    Funded Dec 11, 2022

We are so grateful for your generous donations to my students which greatly improved their classroom experience. Right before the Christmas holiday, I packed 40 Christmas-themed sacks with books and small gifts for each of my students. The day of our Christmas parties, I presented my students with their new books and the joy on their faces was amazing. The story was Christmas-themed and also included elements of Arthurian tales from classic British literature. It featured the magical kingdom of "Camelot". This story introduced my students to classic literature while at the same time including a concept they were familiar with such as Christmas. My goal was to instill a lifelong love of books and I am so grateful that the generous donors also agreed with my vision and wanted to make it happen.

Thank you so much for your support and for helping to encourage a group of students to become individuals who will have a life-long love of reading.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Marshall

  • Pencils For Writing Success!

    Funded Sep 20, 2022

Thank you so much for funding my project. My goal is to create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning. A huge part of that is making sure we have all the supplies and resources needed to make learning easier. Due to the fact that this district has many low income individuals, I wanted to take the intitiative to provide resources that might otherwise be unavailable to my students. I extend my sincerest gratitude for making this happen and helping to make this year a successful one!”

    With gratitude,

  • Pencils, Pencils, Pencils & Fun Incentives!

    Funded Dec 6, 2021

The donations have helped to stock my classroom with much-needed supplies to keep our classroom functioning. Pencils are an absolute necessity because many students and their families nowadays struggle to purchase and provide classrooms with the most basic supplies. The donations from Donors Choose have helped me to provide consistent access to pencils for my students so that we can focus on learning rather than worrying about whether or not they have the appropriate writing utensils. Additionally, the incentives have aided me in keeping my students motivated to keep on trying, keep on working, and do their best on their assignments. It has also helped with classroom management to make sure that students realize the more well-behaved they are, the more they try hard to do their best in academics that they will receive rewards like lollipops or erasers for their effort. Overall, it has greatly improved the structure and functioning of my classroom.”

  • Happy Holidays Crafts and Portraits

    Funded Oct 8, 2021

My students were so excited to learn that they would get to take portraits in front of a snowy scene - especially with their friends! Once the pictures are printed, the students will make picture frames for their photos out of paper and foam to bring home as a special holiday gift for their families.

Additionally, students were provided with wooden ornaments which they painted, colored with pencils, markers, and glitter glued to give them that holiday shine!

The children were so proud of their creations - snowflakes, stars, Christmas trees, stockings, and even Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer. They got to experience the excitement of testing out their artistic abilities with acrylic painting and designing their own personalized holiday gifts for themselves and their loved ones. This experience was valued and irreplaceable.”

  • Pumpkins Crafts for Kids

    Funded Oct 27, 2021

Thank you so much for funding my project pumpkin crafts for kids. Each child got to make their own decorative paper pumpkins and other Halloween/Fall decorations that they could display in the class and take home to their families.

They were able to make paper pumpkins in a variety of colors! The talents of my students' creative abilities really shined through.

My students were so excited to know that they would get the opportunity to make their own designs, create alongside their friends, and celebrate the season.

The most important part of this project was that my students built positive MEMORIES.”

  • Books Are Gifts To Students' Lives

    Funded Aug 20, 2021

My students have enjoyed the new books that they received and some have even finished reading one of them, so far! I have heard of parents reading the book with their children at home as well. The experiences that these children have gained is that reading is something important but it is also something positive and fun. The children have expressed that they loved the stories. Children are gaining knowledge of how to comprehend what they are reading, spelling, and grammar. Since many parents of my students are reading together with them, they get that added experience of bonding and appropriate modeling of good reading behaviors from their parents. I have visibly seen more interest in books from my students. They will read when they finish an assignment, they ask to borrow other classroom books, and they talk about the books they have read. This project made a significant impact on my student's lives and their journey with literature. In their mind books are now a positive object, an object of comfort, and that is foundational to continued literacy.”

    With gratitude,

I want my students to have the chance to own a book. It is different when a child reads a book in school or the library, versus receiving one as a gift. Gifting a book to a child creates a positive experience around the book and encourages a positive image of reading. I am purchasing books, gift bags, erasers, and other little goodies for the kids because I want them to know that school and literature are a gift in their life. Owning a book and reading are stepping stones to a successful future.
