Making Learning Hands On

Funded Aug 12, 2021

Thank you so much for helping support my classroom. The manipulatives have been the greatest addition to my classroom because students are able to understand the lessons on a more concrete level as they play with the base10 blocks, clocks, coins, and other items.

The very first time they saw the manipulatives, I just let them explore with them. They were so excited to play and build and just manipulate them. Now they understand that they can also be used in their lessons. The base10 blocks have been the most used manipulatives because they're so fundamental. We have used them to build numbers and break down numbers (compose & decompose in math terms). We have used them to compare numbers. The biggest help has been when we started addition and subtraction with regrouping (you may remember borrowing and carrying). It really helped them to see that they had to break down the next place value to get more of the unit they needed or it helped them combine the next place value when adding.

Thank you again for supporting my classroom. There's no way my lessons would have been as successful without your funding. I truly appreciate the help that you have given to help me be a better teacher with hands on activities.”

With gratitude,

Ms. Gregor
