These materials will make a world of difference in my students' learning as they will not have to supply them on their own. Many of my students work, and they're not working to purchase clothes- they're working to help out their household. Supplies such as the required 3 subject notebooks, pencils, and paper are necessary so that students can contribute to discussions, complete their work, and store it safely. By donating to our project, you are helping my students focus on their studies, and not the lack of supplies that they need- in essence, you are helping close the achievement gap. You are helping them level the playing field of learning, so that they can focus their attention on academics. Our lessons explore culture, question societies conformities, and help students seek validation from self and not others. We will highlight our differences, challenge history, and read books and excerpts from the view point of all walks of life. I plan on challenging my students to be the best version of their selves.
