STEM bins tap into students' ability to be creative and practice their engineering skills. For my class specifically, I feel as though STEM bins will be a great addition because it will give them a break from the constant barrage of technology & let them work/play creatively with their hands. This will also support cooperative playing and teamwork since the bins will be shared. The goal in using STEM bins as breaks and indoor recess is to promote creativity and critical thinking among my students while helping them feel successful and proud of their own creations. In addition to the STEM bins, I would like to start a puzzling club! This will be an extra-curricular club once a week after school. It will be an excellent way to build relationships with my students as well as promoting teamwork peer-to-peer. The jigsaw puzzles will range from 500-1500 pieces as the year progresses. As we complete puzzles we will work together to seal them with puzzle glue so they can be displayed around campus for everyone to enjoy. At the end of the school year we will have a drawing for the puzzling members to take the completed puzzles home!
