Reading is a foundational skill and also, a challenge in my class, so I chose books that my students cannot only see themselves in, but also books that reflect the experiences of their peers. My students deserve more than just class novels that we will read together. They deserve to explore the world of literature, make connections to what they read, and learn about the world around them!
