Students will be able to learn in an environment that places them in the mindset for financial literacy from the moment they step into our classroom. Studies show that your classroom environment, including how you decorate your space can impact student's desire to learn. The goal here is to give students an environment that increases their desire to explore and master financial literacy concepts and to create an overall classroom experience that will impact their financial future. Students will utilize props, games, and resources to promote real world experiences and practice. I am building a "Finance Hub" in my classroom. This includes books, literature, and resources that students will use to research college tuition, banking options, credit options, etc. Students will also be able to earn a spot on our Wall of Fame where they will take pictures using the props to be posted on the wall. Lastly, each student will start the year where they will be given, fake money (prop money) as their "Salary". As we go through class, they will have to pay "rent", "utilities", etc., They will build a budget and utilize their budget throughout each semester.
