Students use many different strategies to learn. Why shouldn't the way they sit be a strategy as well? Students in my classroom use flexible seating in small group work and independent work. There are spaces around the classroom with small tables, high tables, bean bags, and desk chairs for students to choose how they would like to learn. My fourth graders are very responsible in completing their work using flexible seating. We have rules using this type of seating in my classroom. Reviewing the rules of flexible seating is part of our morning routine. With your help, I will be able to give my students another way of sitting in our class.
