  • New Books to Foster a Love for Reading

    Funded Sep 27, 2021

It's hard to put into words how grateful I am for your donation to my project. I am committed to providing students with a new and challenging chapter books that create life long readers. The books that you have funded will enable students to engage in great pieces of literature that they will be able to make connections to their communities and their lives. My students will encourage one another to read different books and will even get to rate their top book. We will vote as a class which books we think deserve to be on South Carolina's children literature list. Thank you once more for your generosity. We can't wait to begin!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Savage

My students love to read and are always challenging each other to read the latest and greatest books! They fly through books and always get excited about new ones. The books from the South Carolina Children's Award nominations will bring recently published titles to the classrooms. Students are eager to read these books so they can cast their own vote for the winner of the Book Award. The students will also be able to discuss these books with their peers. We are also looking for read-aloud books to make our morning meetings more meaningful so students can relate to the topics we discuss. We look forward to receiving these books in order to grow during our independent reading time.
