Being able to give iPads to my students and the other fourth-grade students will be so exciting for both the teachers and the students! My students have access to Chromebooks at school but being able to utilize iPads will allow for even more growth. The Apple App Store has countless learning, educational applications that I can download on my class iPads, that we do not have access to using a Chromebook. I really like the fact that iPads have touch screens and are more portable than Chromebooks which will work well with our new flexible seating. All of the learning websites we use as a class are available to use on an iPad whether it is via app or the web, along with so many other new-to-us learning and enrichment applications. I teach math, ELA, science, and social studies daily to my students and they will be able to enhance the skills they are learning through the iPads. Since I will not have 1:1 iPads for students, they will typically be using these as a center option during our learning blocks for subjects such as math. By not having 1:1 iPads, students will probably only get a few turns a week, which means they will be excited to find and use new apps and grow through their learning when they do get a turn to use the iPad. Students will take fair turns using these devices, which means that learners of all levels will get to use them. I will provide higher-level students with challenging activities and learning apps while I will provide lower-level students with enrichment activities and apps.
