I want to create a learning environment that is inviting and stable. With most students coming from households that fall under the poverty line, I want to have a space where they have access to classroom supplies. I don't want the lack of resources to inhibit the learning possibilities. As a new teacher, I would love to fully supply these items for my classroom, but at this time, it is not feasible. The items requested will be used in conjunction with my lesson plans. I will be teaching ELA, so the books will be used as classroom reading materials. It is my hope that I will soon have enough books for a classroom library. The finger lights are a special request to create more engaging experiences for the students when they read. The literary posters will be used for display in my classroom as I will be teaching this subject to three classes of 4th graders. The markers that I requested will be used for classroom projects. I particularly requested the skin tone markers because of the diverse population at our school. I would also like for each student in my classroom to have a pocket folder. This was an item that was not included on our district's school supply list. I would like to have this as a means for students to carry their homework home but also as a way to communicate with parents/guardians. Due to the size of our school, it would be beneficial to have my own laminator for classroom materials, as one of the school's laminators is currently down. I hope you will consider our needs and know that we are grateful for your donation. Anything you can offer will be appreciated and utilized.
