  • Building a Financial Literacy Library to Inspire Money-Smart Kids

    Funded Sep 25, 2024

Thank you, so much, for your generous donation to our library.

We encourage the students to read from different genres than they are used to, and offering updated, relevant book titles about topics like financial literacy excites the kids about reading new things.

Children deserve high quality, high interest, current books to choose from at the library - books that reflect who they are and what they can become.

Your donation will have a great impact on many students for years to come. Thank you, again.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Lind

This classroom project was brought to life by Charles Schwab Foundation and 2 other donors.
  • Building a Language/Culture Library for Immigrant and Refugee Students

    Funded Sep 14, 2024

Thank you so much for your generous donation of books to our library.

Multi-language books in the library go a long long way toward bridging the gap between home and school, particularly for our immigrant and refugee families. When the children can share stories with their families in both English and their first language, the families feel welcome, included, and valued in their new community.

Bringing in more stories about their culture and families helps students understand each other better - the goal being a more inclusive and caring global community.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Lind

This classroom project was brought to life by An Anonymous Supporter and 3 other donors.
  • Building a Sports Library to Excite Kids About Reading

    Funded Aug 14, 2024

The sports bins in the image were full before my first day of classes - thanks to you.

By the end of the day, they were seriously depleted. The students LOVED the new books (particularly the soccer books)!

Library budgets are often very small and your donation allows me to add current, relevant, desirable books to our shelves.

Thank you, again, for your generous donation. When kids are excited about the material they choose, excitement about reading quickly follows. Your donation will impact kids in our school for years to come.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Lind

This classroom project was brought to life by The Gates Foundation and one other donor.
  • Building a Library About the Climate and the Environment!

    Funded Apr 18, 2024

Thank you, again, for your generous and thoughtful donation of books to our Environment and Climate Awareness library.

Up to date and relevant stories and informational texts on these topics are crucial for creating informed and caring students. These students are the future champions of the earth!

It is also important that our students see themselves reflected in the pages of the books. Our school district boasts the most diverse student population in our state and is the fifth most diverse district in the country. Representation matters.

Thank you, again. Your donation will have a great impact on many students for years to come.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Lind

This classroom project was brought to life by Johnson Ohana Foundation and 3 other donors.
  • Building a Student Representative Library

    Funded Jan 24, 2024

Thank you so much for your donation. The kids love seeing new books on the shelves - especially when they see themselves reflected on the pages.

It is our mission in the library to make sure that every child sees themselves well-represented on our shelves.

By building our book collection to represent the student population of the school, students see that they are valued and respected and capable of achieving what they set their minds to.

Your generosity will impact so many children, for years to come.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Lind

  • Building a Native American Library

    Funded Jan 16, 2024

Our school is on traditional Native land and we try hard to honor that, here. The books by and about Native Peoples that we have purchased with your donation help re-enforce that respect and educate our students about the history, traditions, and culture of past and current tribes.

The kids love to see new books on the shelves, especially when they can see themselves reflected in the pages. Thank you so much for your generosity. These books will benefit so many children, for years to come.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Lind

  • Lunar New Year Library Collection

    Funded Dec 19, 2023

It is our mission in the library to make sure that every child sees themselves well-represented on our shelves. By building our book collection to represent the student population of the school, students will see that they are valued and respected and capable of achieving what they set their minds to.

A library that represents different cultures and traditions also helps our students connect home to school, and helps students understand each other better - the goal being a more inclusive and caring global community.

Thank you so much for your donation.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Lind

  • Building a Multi-Language Library

    Funded Dec 1, 2023

Multi-language books in the library go a long long way toward bridging the gap between home and school, particularly for our immigrant and refugee families. When the children can share stories with their families in both English and their first language, the families feel welcome, included, and valued in their new community.

Watching a parent discover our language section (or being pulled to it by their child) and seeing the their eyes light up when they read their own language, is a beautiful sight to behold. Our multi-language students are always eagerly looking for new additions to the language section.

Thank you, so much, for your generosity. Your donation will have a great impact on many students for years to come.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Lind

This classroom project was brought to life by Townsend Press and 11 other donors.
  • Building a Multi-lingual Library!

    Funded Sep 12, 2023

These multi-language support our refugee and immigrant students from Afghanistan, Ukraine, and Russia. The books create a connection between home and school for the families, and offer a feeling of inclusion and acceptance in their new school.

I do read-alouds and lessons in English, but all of the students know where the language section of the library is. The bins are clearly labeled in English and Pashto, Farsi, Dari, Ukrainian, Russian, etc. The students are allowed to check out two books at a time.

My favorite thing is to see the students who have been here for a while guide to the new students to the language section and help them select book. I also love seeing the families' reactions when they see we have books in their first languages.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Lind
