Flexible seating provides my English language learners with safe, comfortable and clean seating areas to work during whole group instruction and during independent work time. A typical day in my class starts with whole group instruction. We either meet on the floor in front of the Smart board or at tables. The round floor mats will provide a comfortable and clean place to sit on. These can also be used during team work which can be moved around and easily wiped. Also, the black stools are versatile. They can be used at tables and are portable and easy to move around for team/partner work. I like that I can sanitize the surfaces of flexible seating equipment. Flexible seating will help create an environment where English language learners can be motivated to be explorers of the English language. A quiet comfortable place to do independent work is needed to allow students to stay focused and foster creativity. The tent with flexible seating is a great retreat for my students who need that quiet place to think, read or write. The camping chairs will also provide comfortable and safe areas for independent work. Flexible seating in an ESL classroom enhances a learning environment with a low "affective filter", a place where English language learners are motivated and excited to learn.
