  • Accessible Books

    Funded Sep 11, 2021

Thank you all so much for choosing to fund our class project bringing more engaging and relevant books into our classroom.

We were able to get tons of student interest graphic novels like Spiderman, Black Panther, and so much more. Because we have more book choices, students look forward to Independent reading time everyday! I am finding that even my students learning English for the first time love engaging with our new graphic novels. Students are excited about reading and even eager to share what they read with others. This has made literacy definitely more accessible to our students!”

Students learn in many different ways. We have students who prefer to read books with nothing but words. We also have students who are new to English, or below grade level who can't access those words. Engaging books, with images, like graphic novels can be a "door in" to literacy and reading. I believe that having these books available in our classroom will definitely get kids excited about reading and creative writing. Students will be exposed to the different ways that people use literacy to create and will make reading accessible to everyone!
