These books and materials will allow my students to learn about various identity groups to foster a culturally responsive classroom environment. Students will build empathy and awareness of different ways of being and ways of knowing through these stories. It is imperative that students feel represented in the classroom by seeing their identities represented in literature, as well as identities that are different than their own. To build a strong classroom community, it is imperative that students understand one another's ways of being and knowing. Let's push for diverse texts!
