Help students become enthusiastic readers by giving them the ability to read books at their instructional level. These books will be used in both guided reading and independent reading. Reading builds brains, fosters early learning and creates connections in the brain that promote language, cognitive, and social and emotional development. "Access to printed materials and not poverty- is the "critical variable affecting reading acquisition." (McQuillan, 1996) According Richard Allington the three conditions readers need to thrive are: time to read, access to books they find fascinating, and expert instruction. Funding this project will give students just that! Please fund my project and give my students access to three things they need to thrive in a ever changing society!
