I will be utilizing purchased books and materials to create meaningful experiences for students' social and emotional growth. Students will work toward meeting critical developmental, social and emotional skills with these resources. The resources that I am requesting contain content that is developmentally appropriate and motivating for my student population. Students will work toward reaching personal social/emotional goals with class wide, small group and 1:1 lessons and activities utilizing these resources. Help me provide students with enriching content as they develop and grow as unique, beautiful learners. Students have a wide range of goals ranging from identifying feelings and developing coping strategies, improve daily living skills (such as organization and hygiene), and goals, increasing self-advocacy and other general social skills. Examples of lessons that will be incorporated while utilizing these resources include identifying body sensations and feelings, identifying and developing coping strategies, asking for help, appropriately gaining attention (greetings, initiating play, using appropriate voice level and tone), taking turns, sharing, handling conflict (expressing dislikes, asking peer to stop an action, apologizing, acknowledging that people can have different opinions), understanding and embracing differences (abilities, traits, families, etc.), respectful and responsible behaviors in and out of school (active listening, raising hand/waiting to talk, not interrupting, maintaining appropriate personal space and understanding boundaries). *Due to student needs lessons are often highly specific and social-emotional games and activities are incorporated into daily instruction more than in a typical General Education setting. I promise you, these resources will not go to waste!
