Academic, Functional, and Organizational Student Success!

Funded Aug 18, 2021

Hello and Happy Holidays! While it is generally known as the "Season of Giving", it is also a wonderful time to reflect upon the generosity of others and how that, in turn, has enriched and enlightened our own lives. As such, I wanted to convey my humble gratitude to you for funding my project entitled "Academic, Functional, and Organizational Student Success". Your kindness and generosity provided my classroom with the means to produce, organize, and display materials specific to the needs of my students.

The heavy duty paper trays were used in a number of ways. One such way was to organize daily student work materials specific to their IEP goals and objectives. Students in my classroom use visual schedules to help them be as independent as possible and to have the consistency of following a daily routine. The paper trays are part of that visual schedule and make it very simple for them to transition from one set of tasks to another. Another way that the paper trays were used was to organize materials that were in the process of being completed. Many of the materials that have been created for my students have many parts or components, such as file folder activities. Having the paper trays to use helped tremendously in keeping materials from getting mixed up or lost which led to faster completion and use.

The tactile uppercase and lowercase alphabet letters as well a numbers have yet to be used as the student they were intended for is finally attending school on a more routine basis. I look forward to using these unique flashcards with this student as he/she has some issues pertaining to vision. These flashcards will help in engaging the student and provide extra sensory stimulation while working on recognizing alphabet letters and numbers!

The Velcro dots were used for most, if not all, the materials that were produced for the classroom. These Velcro dots were used extensively to make file folder matching activities, alphabet letter and number matching charts, materials to be used/displayed during Circle Time, and materials to be used/displayed around the classroom.

The gift cards from Teachers Pay Teachers have also been a tremendous source in providing my students with a plethora of materials specific to their IEP goals and objectives. Much of the materials used this past semester came from the TpT website. My students have enjoyed the materials greatly as the goals and objectives they work on daily are presented in different and engaging ways.

In conclusion, this has been a productive and successful first semester of the 2021-2022 school year. Much of the progression that my students have shown is partly due to having an organized and functional classroom, a routine schedule, and materials created specifically for each of them. This success and progression, I believe, is much attributed to your funding of my project and providing my classroom with some much needed materials. From the bottom of my heart, I sincerely thank you for investing in my classroom and in the lives and education of my students.”

With gratitude,

Ms. Chhay
