Students need to get the joy of learning back into their lives. In the Native Hawaiian culture, there is a time each year called the Makahiki Season. This was a time when the kapu was lifted and it was a time to pay taxes. Additionally, Native Hawaiians played games, danced, and enjoyed eating together. Like in the Makahiki Season, I want to create a sense of joy by students playing games, dancing, and eating together. Also, the games and treats can be used during review games. I want to create a sense of community among the students.
