Students will use real world likenesses to discover the principles of Newton's three laws. Throughout the 4th quarter, the 8th graders will explore Newton's three laws by recreating their own race tracks and compare their results. These materials will make a difference in my students learning because it offers them an engaging and hands-on approach to a subject that can be challenging to grasp at their age. The more they have the chance to explore the phenomena of forces and motions and get to experiment with the phenomena the more likely they will be able to understand their learning standards. I want my students to have multiple ways to to investigate their learning targets and this project will allow them to experience Newton's three laws visually, auditorily and tactilely. The students will group up and build their own Hot Wheels tracks and measure distance, time and speed of their Hot Wheels cars on the tracks. By comparing each groups track style and outcomes they can then build their understanding of the cause and effect of each track providing faster or slower times for the race cars.
