All students will take part in a mapping and design (blueprint) project in the 1st semester that will help them to learn about spatial reasoning, ratios, and budgeting math class as part of our 1st semester team project. This is one component of our proposal to get approval to build a story garden on campus. The supplies here will make it possible for students to create and prepare their proposed space on campus for future planting. Due to COVID, students did not have an opportunity to engage in hands on in person learning on our campus spaces. This project aims to help students build relationship with their place and the land. By building on 'aina based learning initiatives students will develop pilina (relationships) with their place so that can feel empowered to care for their school and make a difference. The vision is that the garden will consist of native plants to the area and share 'ike kupuna(knowledge from elders), mo'olelo(stories/legends) of place, and will be a platform for students to share their own stories for future students as this group of students are one of the inaugural classes of a new school.
