Students will be able to receive tailored instruction with more opportunities to respond and get feedback from the teacher using a small group table. Students come to fifth grade with a wide range of abilities, especially in the area of mathematics. Students who struggle with calculations need different scaffolding to learn grade-level skills. Accelerated students need an opportunity to continue to progress beyond grade-level skills. When students learn math in small groups every student can get the right level of challenge and support. To achieve this students will be grouped according to their needs. Fewer students learning new material at the same time will have more chances to participate.
