  • Less Stress, More Success

    This project came to fruition and my students were blessed with the many items to help with their sensory needs. The items purchased through the generosity of those who chose to fund this project is reflected in the faces of the students each day. My students regularly use the sensory tools to assist themselves in the regulation of their actions and emotions.

    My students are not able to attend classes with their peers in large part due to their dysregulation. Through using the items purchased with this grant, they learn what it feels like to be regulated and can find their own way to recreate these feelings through appropriate means.”

A variety of sensory equipment provides students with special needs personalized sensory input and helps students calm and focus themselves so they can be better prepared for learning and interacting with others. Sensory equipment can have a positive impact on students enhancing their ability to follow directions and spend more time on task. Sensory equipment can also decrease negative behaviors and provide students motivation to improve behavior. The products that I have selected will help my students by giving them access to sensory equipment to help them calm themselves. The balance boards will allow appropriate vestibular input necessary to calm and orient a student. These will be extremely beneficial for some students that just need to get the wiggles out. Body socks are full-size suits that provide students with deep joint input that is calming to most children. When using the socks, students can see out but cannot be seen from outside. These are great for those students who require quiet time or prefer being in small spaces.
