These materials will make a huge difference in the lives of my students. Many of my families are low income families and because they have greater concerns, for example, food and shelter, reading material is not even on the priority list. My students struggle with literacy and vocabulary. The multicolored plastic folders will assist my students in being organized with their subject matter. For example, in English Language Arts students will be able to organize reference materials, "Do Now's", homework, classwork and writing. The amount of words they are exposed to is limited. Having a organized literacy rich classroom environment will assist them in reaching their goals. Many times, the only time my students come in contact with books is at school. The Stay-n-Play balance balls will be use to reinforce student focus on a given task. Students who have disabilities such as ADHD will utilize flexible seating which increases oxygen to the brain, increases core strength and also helps young minds to be more alert. Finally, the storage baskets will be used to organize student resources such as books, writing materials, and student work etc... I feel that it is my responsibility to provide them with whatever resources they need to perform well in school. In addition, parents are oftentimes embarrassed to ask for assistance. The pandemic has magnified the need because the students have not been in the classroom and were not able to receive small group instruction.
