Despite the rural roots of this community many of our students no longer have that connection. I’m so excited that my first DonorsChoose project is also my first school gardening endeavor.
This is a great opportunity for my students and me to learn and work together.
The wheelbarrows will be utilized to haul dirt, mulch, and hopefully a bumper crop (in a few months). The tools, water cans, and hoses will be used for cultivating our garden. With the variety of seeds, the children can explore the diversity of plant life.
In addition, these hands-on experiences will provide the children a way to connect with the land, have fun while getting dirty, and share the excitement of watching their plants grow.
