These books will benefit my students by increasing engagement with literature that focuses on diversity and place-based learning. They will allow my students to connect to literature from a local author from Hawaii to help my students develop strong reading, writing, and speaking skills. These books will help my students explore the power of their own voice, and take ownership of their personal story which will provide a stronger sense of community, bonding, and enhance Social-Emotional Learning in the classroom and beyond. With these new books, my students will explore concepts like Personal Identity, The American Dream, and The Pursuit of Happiness from diverse voices.

About my class
