Having a classroom library shelved with many books of variety generes at different levels will be tremendously helpful accommodating many interests and abilitlies of my first graders. My students will have frequent access to the library throughout the day as well as opportunities to borrow books to take home. As first graders are learning how to read, the classroom library will be a place to practice books selection, apply strategies for independent reading as well as provide curriculum support in other content areas. Reading will develop literacy skills that connect to overall success in school.
