This year, we anticipate bringing all students back on campus for full face-to-face instruction. Students spent the majority of last year engaging online from homes and computer screens and lacked much of the social and physical interaction with their classmates and friends. We hope to increase students access to equipment with balls, toys, and materials aimed to get them moving and rebuilding their stamina. Learning social skills like communication through team work, fine motor skills with ball handling, throwing and catching, building stamina, and getting students outside in the fresh air will help them to rebuild interpersonal skills as well as reap the positive benefits of exercise and play. The equipment and resources like playground balls, a parachute, and jump ropes will increase and boost student choice during recess and movement as well as help to build our physical education lessons during the school day. Teachers will be able to model skills and allow students time to practice and explore a variety of sports and games using proper equipment. Sports and play time will also give students those social opportunities to communicate and problem solve with peers, which they lacked during our covid-19 school year.
