Our students can use CO2 probes to collect data in real time as they run their experiments. This data can then be analyzed using the graphical analysis program. Using probes allows for more accurate data collection and simulates college and workforce methods of data collection. It will help our students to learn to use evidence to support claims. This will help students gain hands on experience that they were unable to have during distance learning last year. The probes are especially useful for continuous data collection. Currently when we do experiments, students collect a few discreet data points and use these to interpret results. With the probes, students are able to watch the changes in levels throughout their experiments and can detect even small changes in CO2 levels during the data collection. Some of the lessons that the probes will be used for include measuring CO2 change during photosynthesis and cellular respiration, measuring respiration changes during exercise in Human Physiology., and comparing differences in CO2 production during fermentation and cellular respiration.
